MISS FANCYPLANS' FONT FOUNDRY:

CREATE PLAYFUL ALPHABETS IN AFFINITY

Create letters and symbols you can make into typeable fonts! In this course, you'll learn Affinity skills including Boolean operations, the Knife tool, and the Corner tool to create two beautiful, colourful floral alphabets that you can use as clipart. You'll then use a simple, free tool to transform your letters into useable black-and-white TTF and OTF fonts!

Turn simple shapes into beautiful symbols...

symbols into decorative alphabets...
and alphabets into real working fonts!

This course walks you step-by-step through creating two complete floral alphabet designs, exporting them as black-and-white TTF/OTF fonts, and using your colorful artwork as sellable clipart. No illustration experience required!

(This course isn’t really about fonts, though.)

It's about learning how to build original design assets from scratch, and improving your design skills and knowledge.

And it'll use a tool you already have access to, but might not have explored fully: the new Affinity from Canva.

(If you've taken my first Affinity course, this is for you! And even if you haven't, in this course I'll guide you through the easiest tools so that you feel confident using them for your designs.)

This course shows you how to create your own graphics, which you'll add to letters to create decorative alphabets. You'll come away with colorful clip art sets, plus you'll learn how to easily turn them into black-and-white TrueType and OpenType fonts (TTF/OTF) that are actually typeable - and color changeable (to a single color) once they're typed, like any other font.

All from simple shapes and hand drawing.

Hi, I'm Nadia, a.k.a. Miss Fancyplans - a PLR and course creator.

I asked for a graphics tablet for my birthday in May 2025, and when I first opened an older version of Affinity to play with it, I was a bit daunted - even though I already felt confident with the basics of other tools like Photopea and Photoshop.

But Affinity's vector-based tools opened up possibilities I hadn’t had before, and even though the interface felt overwhelming at first, I kept learning little by little.

Just as my free trial was about to run out and I was about to purchase it, Canva announced that Affinity would be free forever for all users. That’s when I knew I had to share what I’d learned with others in the PLR and printables space.

Here's what you'll create:

- a set of organic, hand-drawn letters to use as the baseline for your alphabets

- a set of stylized flower symbols, which you can colorize and use as clipart

- a set of hand-drawn, quirky flowers and leaves, also to colorize and use as clipart

- an alphabet of illustrated initials decorated with your stylized flower symbols

- a floral alphabet decorated with your hand-drawn flowers and leaves

- two typeable font sets created with black-and-white versions of those two alphabets

Plus, you'll get my teaching sets of all of the above, all with MRR.

Here's how we'll do it:

Lesson 1: The difference between alphabets, initials, symbols, and fonts

Lesson 2: Usage rights when making and using fonts

Lesson 3: Building an alphabet - learning the Corner Tool and Boolean Operations

Lesson 4: Building a stylized flower set with the Shape Tool and Boolean Operations

Lesson 5: Hand-drawing a whimsical flower and leaf set with the Pen Tool and Knife Tool

Lesson 6: Creating your illustrated initials alphabet with your stylized flower set

Lesson 7: Creating your floral alphabet with your hand-drawn flowers and leaves

Lesson 8: Turning both of your alphabets into black-and-white TTF/OTF fonts with a free tool, Calligraphr

(You knew I was going to say that, right?)

Plus, we'll make your artwork do double duty: as fonts AND as clipart.

If you have a free Canva account (not Pro), you won't be able to upload your created fonts to your Canva account to type with them. But you can still sell them as fonts to others! (You can sell decorative fonts on Etsy or on your own website.)

And to make sure you can still use your beautiful graphics in Canva, we'll export all of them as pngs so you can upload them to Canva and use (and sell!) them as clipart instead of typeable fonts.

Illustrated and decorative letters are SUPER-versatile, and can be used in:

- nursery or children's wall art

- birthday party banners

- planner or journal covers

- drop-caps on book covers

- classroom decorations

- printable bookmarks

- stickers

- and so much more!

Nothing you make will be unusable - it'll just be used in the format that corresponds with your Canva license.

This course is perfect for:

PLR and printable creators who want a beginner-friendly way to get started with Affinity

Creators who want to learn Affinity through a real project with tangible deliverables

Those who enjoy decorative lettering and making whimsical, 'perfectly imperfect' art

Canva users who want to draw their own original clipart

Those who learn best by recreating to understand exactly what's possible.

And it's not for:

Anyone looking for complex illustration or advanced drawing techniques

Creators who want an in-depth, full graphic design course

Praise for Nadia's other courses:

“I thought I could figure it out myself, but I'm so glad I bought the training. Your tutorial was great! Your content was laid out in an orderly manner. You explained everything so it was easy to understand and follow, and I feel you were not rushing through the lessons. In many of the other tutorials I've purchased before, I found the creator was talking fast, all over the place, and a challenge to follow. I completed the tutorial and now have the skill and confidence I need.” - B.
