MIX-AND-MATCH MAGIC:

CREATE A LIBRARY OF CUTE CHARACTER FEATURES IN AFFINITY

Create a library of face elements including eyes, noses, mouths, whiskers, markings and more, and put together your own mix-and-match animal character faces in Affinity

Start with one element.

Make several variations.

Draw another element, copy and tweak...

Build up your collection of mix-and-match elements...

And suddenly you have a whole library of interchangeable features

to create unique, adorable character faces!

This course walks you step-by-step through creating the eyes, noses, mouths, whiskers, spots, stripes, markings, and other features that you'll need for creating your animal character faces.

We'll use the Pen tool and the Node tool to draw the features - and we'll make sure we incorporate lots of different facial expressions (happy, sad, surprised, mischievous, etc) by just making tiny tweaks.

Then, we'll add the secret ingredient: TEXTURE!

We'll use the Raster Brush and the Path (Vector) Brush tools to add layers of texture to the hand-drawn elements in two different ways, ending up with designs that have both flat and textured sections.

And there's no illustration experience required!

As with all my Affinity courses, this isn't just about the final product.

It's about learning how to build original design assets from scratch (no AI!), and improving your design skills and knowledge.

And it'll use a tool you already have access to, but might not have explored fully: the new Affinity from Canva.

Don't worry if you've never used Affinity before - this course will guide you through the easiest tools so that you feel confident using them for your designs.

You'll come away with a whole library of your own designs - plus, you'll get my done-for-you library of animal facial features, which come with MRR - meaning you can use them commercially in your own PLR and printable designs.

Ready to get started?

Hi, I'm Nadia, a.k.a. Miss Fancyplans - a PLR and course creator.

I asked for a graphics tablet for my birthday in May 2025, and when I first opened an older version of Affinity to play with it, I was a bit daunted - even though I already felt confident with the basics of other tools like Photopea and Photoshop.

But Affinity's vector-based tools opened up possibilities I hadn’t had before, and even though the interface felt overwhelming at first, I kept learning little by little.

Just as my free trial was about to run out and I was about to purchase it, Canva announced that Affinity would be free forever for all users. That’s when I knew I had to share what I’d learned with others in the PLR and printables space.

Here's what you'll create:

- a personal Library of at least 50 elements (eyes, noses, mouths, whiskers, markings, etc) that can be mixed and matched to create different animal faces

- a set of your own animal character clipart made from the elements in your library

Plus, you'll get my done-for-you Library of elements and all the animal character clipart I make in the videos, all with MRR.

Here's how we'll do it:

Lesson 1: Introduction

Lesson 2: Setting up your workspace

Lesson 3: Drawing your character heads

Lesson 4: Building your library - drawing eyes

Lesson 5: Building your library - drawing noses and mouths

Lesson 6: Building your library - drawing whiskers, spots, stripes, and other markings

Lesson 7: Organizing your library of features using the Assets panel

Lesson 8: Putting together your characters

Lesson 9: Creating texture with the Raster Brush Tool

Lesson 10: Creating texture with the Path (Vector) Brush Tool

Lesson 11: Layering Textures

Lesson 12: Saving and exporting your work for commercial use

Hey! Why is SHE so snooty? What's her problem?

Maybe she didn't hear how useful and versatile the Library of features will be!

Here's how you can use your feature library and your finished animal faces:

- create cut-out-and-assemble printables

- use in sorting games or memory match games

- feature the characters in kids' fun and educational activity books

-make 'name the emotions' flash cards or 'how do you feel' cards

- use for party decor, classroom decor, or wall decor

- use in combination with other graphics to create seamless repeat patterns

- create greeting cards, stickers, printable bookmarks, and more!

This course is perfect for:

PLR and printable creators who want a beginner-friendly way to get started with Affinity

Creators who want to learn Affinity through a real project with tangible deliverables

Those who enjoy making whimsical, 'perfectly imperfect' art

Canva users who want to draw their own original clipart

Those who learn best by recreating to understand exactly what's possible.

And it's not for:

Anyone looking for complex illustration or advanced drawing techniques

Creators who want an in-depth, full graphic design course

Praise for Nadia's other courses:

“I'm halfway through your lettering tutorial [Font Foundry: Create playful alphabets in Affinity], which is amazing. I'm absolutely loving everything I have received from you.” - Bobbi

“I thought I could figure it out myself, but I'm so glad I bought the training. Your tutorial was great! Your content was laid out in an orderly manner. You explained everything so it was easy to understand and follow, and I feel you were not rushing through the lessons. In many of the other tutorials I've purchased before, I found the creator was talking fast, all over the place, and a challenge to follow. I completed the tutorial and now have the skill and confidence I need.” - B.

Got questions? I've got answers!

  • How much time will this course take?
Each video is made to be bite-sized and watchable in under 30 minutes. You'll need to put in some design time, but once you get going it doesn't take long to create and edit your individual graphics!
  • Do you use AI in this course?
No, there's no AI used at all - just the regular tools in Affinity. I wanted this course, and all my Affinity courses, to be about learning how to use the tools so that AI was not needed.
  • Is there additional support if I need help?
I'm going to be making additional support available via a live round or ask-me-anything event that I will run every so often for users of my Affinity courses. The first one will be sometime in 2026.
  • I already have your other Affinity courses. How is this one different?
As with all my Affinity courses, there's at least one new tool being taught. In this course, it's the Raster Brush and the Path (Vector) Brush tools.

I love to make my Affinity courses lead to a specific, tangible outcome - so the Library of elements that you make during this course is totally different from the projects you'll have worked on in my other courses.
  • What can I use these Affinity skills for?
You can use these skills for so much! You can create your own graphics using the techniques I show you in this course. You can come up with a different type of Mix-and-Match Library (for example, floral elements like petals, leaves, and stems) that you can create for yourself. And you can use your work in any of your PLR and printable products, and also sell your own graphics as clipart. Building up your skills is so useful for opening up possibilities in your business.

With Mix-and-Match Magic, you'll learn the tools to create unique and cute animal characters with ease - and you can reuse your Library over and over again to make new characters for your products!

By purchasing this course, you agree to the following terms and conditions: you can't resell the course (or any component of it) or pass it on to anyone else for free or for a fee. The graphics and clipart in the course come with Master Resell Rights, meaning you can use them in your PLR products to sell - but you can't sell them as stand-alone graphics or clipart. They must be incorporated into a larger project sold by you.
